Brunch will be served in the dining car while the train winds its way southwards to Swaziland in time for an afternoon game drive in the Mkhaya Reserve.

During the night the train will continue south to the village of Hluhluwe in Zululand. Starting early once again,a wide variety of game can be seen on an early morning game drive through the scenic Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

After an evening in Durban the train steadily ascends the scenic escarpment through Pietermaritzburg and The Valley ofa Thousand Hills en route to Lions River for a morning visit to the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery. The route to Bethlehem takes the train past Lesotho and the highest mountains in the Drakensberg range at 3 482 metres.

Pretoria to Cape Town

Day 1 10h00 Depart Rovos Rail’s private station in Capital Park, Pretoria. Lunch and dinner is served en route to Mpumalanga (Breakfast 07H00-10H00; Lunch 13H00 ; Dinner 19H30)

Day 2 Golfers: 09h00 Tee off at Leopard Creek near Kruger National Park with lunch. Non golfers: 08h00 Game drive in Kruger National Park with lunch. 17H00 re-join the train at Komatipoort and depart for Zululand.

Day 3 09h30 Game drive in the Hluhluwe Reserve. 11h0 Lunch is served as the train travels alongside St Lucia wetland en route to Durban. Durban for the overnight stop.

Day 4 Golfers: 08H00 Tee off at Durban Country Club After lunch, take a scenic drive along the Midlands before joining the train at Lions river. Non Golfers: 08h00 Durban city tour. 10h00 Traverse the Valley of a Thousand Hills for a visit to the famous Ardmore ceramics gallery. 16H00 Return to the train for Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 09h00 Enjoy a tour of Bloemfontein. Travel to Coerney/Alicedale crossing the Drakensburg Mountains.

Day 6 Golfers: 07H00 transfer to Port Elizabeth for golf at Humewood course. Join the train after lunch in Port Elizabeth. Non-golfers: 08H00 Game drive at Addo Elephant Park. 11H30 Join the train and depart for Port Elizabeth. 14H15 Experience the train being turned around before departure for Oudtshoorn via Willowmore.

Day 7 Golfers: 07H00 Arrive in Oudtshoorn and transfer to George along Montagu Pass. 10H30 Tee off at Fancourt followed by dinner at the estate. Non – golfers 09H00 Two hour Ostrich farm visit in Oudtshoorn. Traverse Montagu Pass to George. 18H30 Disembark for Dinner at Fancourt Estate.

Day 8 Golfers: 07H00 transfer to Ernie Els designed Oubaai Golf course for 08H00 tee off. Non-golfers: 08h00 Morning at leisure in Knysna or a visit to Featherbed nature reserve. Depart George and travel along the Garden route via Outeniqua Mountains to the coast and Riversdale.

Day 9 11h00 Arrive in Worcester for a tour of the KWV Brandy Distillery. Depart for a 17h00 arrival at Platform 23, Cape Town Station.

 

 

 

During the night we continue onto Bloemfontein, the Free State capital, with a morning tour of the city.

The journey continues southwards overnight to the coastalcapital of the Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth, where we will enjoy a morning visit to the Addo Elephant Park.

An early morning departure from Willowmore takes the Pride of Africa into Oudtshoorn for a visit to the Highgate Ostrich farm followed by another spectacular rail descent down the Montagu pass into George.

A morning visit to Knysna and the surroundingattractions will complete the visit to this natural paradise.The train sets off at midday from George travelling along the scenicGarden Route through Mossel Bay and Riversdale.

The next morning, after a short visit to the KWV Brandy Distillery in Worcester,the Pride of Africa ends its magnificent collage in the Mother City of Cape Town.
