Rovos Rail has designed two nine-day safaris to entertain golfers with optional excursions for non-playing guests at all venues. The Golf Safari starts in Pretoria and travels west to Sun City in the hills of the Pilanesberg for a day at this world renowned facility that includes a game drive for non-golfers.
Champagne Sports Resort, situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains offers a superb 18 hole course. A guided tour of the battlefields is available for non-golfers.
Enjoy a game at Durban Country Club or tour the city. Then it’s on to Zululand for game viewing at Hluhluwe before heading to Swaziland.Tee off at Royal Swazi or enjoy a game drive at Mkhaya and a visit to Ngwenya Glass and Guava Gallery.
Golfers then play the challenging Leopard Creek course while non-golfers enjoy a game drive in the world-famous Kruger Park, after which this memorable journey ends in Pretoria.
Day 1 10h00 Depart Rovos Rail’s private station in Pretoria and travel to Koster for overnight stop. Day at leisure on the train. (Breakfast 7 – 10am – Lunch 1pm – tea 4.30pm – Dinner 7.30pm)
Day 2 Golfers: 9am Tee off at the Lost City or Gary Player country club at Sun City. Non-golfers: 7am game drive in Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Explore the Lost City followed by lunch at the club. 7.30pm dinner on board en route to Heidelberg.
Day 3 All meals enjoyed on board en route to Estcourt via Ladysmith. Day at Leisure on the train.
Day 4 Golfers: 9am Tee off at Champagne Sports Resort. Non-golfers: 9am Battelfield tour with lunch at Spionkop Lodge followed by shopping. Depart for Durban.
Day 5 Golfers: 7.30am Tee off at Durban Country Club. Non-golfers: 9am Durban City tour followed by lunch with the golfers at Durban Country Club.
Day 6 6am game drive at in Hluhluwe Game Reserve. 11am Brunch as train departs for Mpaka in Swaziland.
Day 7 Golfers: 7.30 am Tee off at Royal Swazi Sun. Non-golfers: 9am game drive in Mkhaya game reserve. Visit Ngwenya Glass with lunch Guava gallery and shopping. 6pm Rovos train departure for Malelane in South African.
Day 8 Golfers: 8am Tee off at Leopard Creek golf estate on the Crocodile River. Non-golfers: 8am game drive in Kruger National Park followed by lunch at Buhala Lodge and curion shopping. 14h00 Lunch at Club. 7.30 Dinner onboard as the train travels to Witbank for overnight stop.
Day 9 7am Breakfast as train departs for Pretoria. 10h00 Arrive at Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria.
